Junior Achievement of Acadiana needs classroom volunteers to teach young people from kindergarten through high school in the Acadiana area, including Allen Parish, how business works. JA trains you and provides the program kit; the kids provide the inspiration!
JA programs engage young people and help them prepare for the future. A great success story happened this year with a team of sophomores from Northside High School in Lafayette, LA. The four team members who were students in a Free Enterprise class had a Junior Achievement volunteer teach them JA Titan, the organization's online business simulation for high school students.
At the end of each school year, JA Worldwide holds a JA Titan online competition to find the best eight teams in the U.S. The all-girl team, 2V, Inc., from Northside High successfully maneuvered through a local competition with teams from two schools and two rounds against teams from around the nation to win a trip to Disney World for the JA Titan National Championship. JA Worldwide provided airfare, accommodations at Contemporary Resort on Disney World, 4-day park hopper passes, a $100 Disney gift card - and a lifetime of memories for these four young ladies, their teacher, and a JA staff member.
Opportunities to make a difference in the lives of children are available in the fall and spring semesters. Weekday times are specified by educators who request JA programs. Would you invest in the future?
JA classroom volunteers must attend an hour of training conducted by a JA staff member with an online training optional before teaching programs to young people. Business professionals, retirees, college students, and parents all make great volunteers! This opportunity is sponsored by: Junior Achievement Of Acadiana
