TOGA volunteers are concerned local youth dedicated to teaching their peer about HIV/AIDS. The TOGA program utilizes curricula that promote and encourage abstinence and postponing sexual involvement as the most effective methods of preventing the spread of HIV and other STDs. However, risk reduction behaviors and skills, including condom use, are discussed when appropriate.
All TOGA volunteers receive thorough training and preparation. TOGA's attend monthly meetings, and must complete the following: -AIDGwinnett TOGA Training Sessions -AIDS 101 provided by AID Atlanta

Overall Experience
Satisfying, rewarding and fun

I have volunteered with AID GWINNETT for almost a year. The entire staff makes sure the volunteers are continually thanked for their time and efforts as well as supporting you every way possible. It is a great environment and opportunity to give back to the community and I am extremely proud of the services AID GWINNETT provides for individuals as well as the community. Their TOGA program provides needed education series for various high schools and churches, giving vital information and opportunities for young people to become more aware of the risk HIV poses in their day to day lives. It is a pleasure to work for a group of people who treat both their clients and volunteers with respect and a warm welcome daily. posted by Writer on September 14, 2004 |
