7th annual Unite 2 Fight Race Against Prostate Cancer

Last updated on October 30, 2008 There are a number of volunteer positions available to help with our Unite 2 Fight Race Against Prostate Cancer. This is a 5-k competitive, 5k non-competitive and one-mile family walk at the Indiana War Memorial. Proceeds help provide men's health services through the Little Red Door Cancer Agency and clinical research trials for prostate cancer through the Indiana Cancer Research Foundation. We expect more than 3,000 people the morning of the race and we will have entertainment along the route. This event honors the men who are currently battling prostate cancer, is in memory of those who have already passed, and creates awareness of this disease. 1 out of every 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer; more men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer than women will be diagnosed with breast cancer; and the 5-year survival rate for prostate cancer is 99% when detected early! There are a variety of positions that will accommodate most volunteers. Volunteer training and job descriptions will be issued before the race.
