 Gleaners is participating in a nationwide study of hunger which is sponsored by Feeding America (formerly America’s Second Harvest). By interviewing clients of charities who receive food from Gleaners Food Bank you can help define the scope of hunger in Indiana. Following training to be offered in January, volunteers will visit charities as a team during their normal hours of operation to ask a predefined set of questions to a sample of people who come to the charity to receive food. Interviews will take place on days and times specified by the study designers. Volunteers may sign up for interview slots based on their availability. Volunteers must attend training and be responsible to follow through on volunteer participation commitments. They must be able to follow the study directions exactly, be patient with clients who may be elderly or disabled, and be able to complete paperwork completely and legibly.
