Volunteers will conduct prevention education programs for children on child sexual assault, bullying and harassment, family and interpersonal violence. Provide crisis intervention, support and advocacy for children. DUTIES will include: Conducting prevention education workshops (30min -1hr in length) for children using curricula provided by the YWCA/Daybreak.
Providing confidential crisis intervention, support, information and advocacy to children during “Review Time”.
Providing confidential crisis intervention, support, information, referral and resources to parents and teachers. On-going education and training on child abuse, domestic violence and related issues. National Certification (CAP Program) Opportunity to reduce violence in local communities.
Volunteers must be 18 years old or over, have flexible day time hours and have an interest in and respect for people who have experienced assault. Volunteers must also have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team and to work with diverse groups of people.
We are looking for volunteers who can make a commitment of 9-12 months and have availability weekdays, mostly morning hours for approximately 4-6 hours per week.
